Вікі любить пам'ятки 2021 в Україні / Wiki Loves Monuments 2021 in Ukraine[edit]

Привіт!

З 1 по 30 вересня вже традиційно пройде українська частина міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»! В Україні цей конкурс пройде вже вдесяте. На конкурс можна подавати власні фото пам'яток історико-культурної спадщини України — і змагатися за призи. Більше можна прочитати за посиланням.

Радимо ознайомитися із детальними правилами, а також із відповідями на часті питання. Як і того року — у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток» можна отримати 21 бал за фотографії об'єктів, якщо світлин цієї пам'ятки раніше не було завантажено.

Нагадаємо, що всі фотографії автоматично беруть участь у номінації «За найбільшу кількість сфотографованих пам’яток»; однак для того, щоб фото позмагалося у номінації «Найкраще фото», потрібно підтвердити це при завантаженні.

Цього року вперше будуть окремо виділені фото з повітря (дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо) — у спеціальній номінації «Аерофото». Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі.

Також вперше проводиться спеціальна номінація «Пам'ятки Подесення», знову пройдуть спецномінації «Відео», «Єврейська спадщина», «Млини», «Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» та «Via Regia Ukraine». Для участі світлин у цих спецномінаціях не потрібно обирати нічого у Завантажувачі — світлини зараховуватимуться автоматично з відповідних списків.

Важливо! Цього року відбулася адміністративно-територіальна реформа. Однак, ми проводимо конкурс ще за попереднім адміністративно-територіальним устроєм. Ми почали роботу над створенням списків з новим поділом, але вона ще не є завершена. Ви можете користуватися тими новими списками, що вже є, якщо потрібно відшукати пам'ятку за новим поділом (деякі ОДА вже почали присилати у такому форматі), але пам'ятайте, що нові списки ще не є повними.

Привіт!

Нагадуємо, що до 30 вересня включно можна вантажити світлини та відео культурної спадщини України до національного етапу міжнародного фотоконкурсу «Вікі любить пам'ятки»!

Зараз Україна посідає 3-є місце за кількістю завантажених світлин, поступаючись Російській Федерації та Німеччині. За першу половину місяця було завантажено світлини пам'яток із усіх регіонів України, але частина із них є дуже погано представлена. Севастополь зараз представлений тільки однією пам'яткою і одним фото, Крим — 12 пам'яток і 51 фото. Детальніше — у таблиці:

Цього року у конкурсі є вісім спеціальних номінацій:

«Аерофото» — для фото з повітря (зроблені дронами, квадрокоптерами тощо). Для того, щоб робота потрапила на спецномінацію потрібно вибрати її у Завантажувачі;
«Відео» — для відеосюжетів з пам'ятками;
«Єврейська спадщина» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
«Млини» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
«Пам'ятки національно-визвольної боротьби» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
«Пам'ятки Подесення» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом, і без нього;
«Via Regia Ukraine» — для об'єктів із охоронним статусом 15 населених пунктів, що за цим маршрутом є.

Hallo Pittigrilli, das ist nicht üblich ein fremdes Foto zu croppen und dann unter dem selebn Namen zu speichenr. Dein Argument, es passt nicht in Wikipedia greift nicht, denn Commons ist nicht nur für Wikipedia da, nicht einmal nur für Wikimedia Projekte, also wenn dann unter einem neuen Namen abspeichern. For what I see, most of the modems inside in Category:Analog modems with white background are really modems (asynchronous or synchronous modems). In my opnion, the word "modem" should not be used for ADSL gateways (since ADSL technology signal is "digital" not "analogic"). Hi, I would appreciate if you did this. The purpose is this: See, e.g. German article de:Pictograms where I inserted the control wheel of the EOS 100 from 1991 as article illustration. From there, I had the idea to add further such pics of later cameras to Commons, which led me to the interesting conclusion (read somewhere) that exactly this pictogram design of EOS 100 of 1991 was kept by Canon for ca. 15-20 years. Thus, I wanted to document this somehow, which motivated me to do the crops. Hence, it is an idea of (generally) documenting the evolution of analog/digital SLR controls in the categories "Pictograms on cameras" and "Camera controls". I took the reduced quality as a compromise, I was actually surprised that there are very few real detailed pics (like the wheels) of cameras (of any type), as I deem that to be quite interesting/informative. It looks to me like most of these are on a genuinely white background, but you've also added a few that are just on a sort-of-lightish background. Perspective distortion[edit]

Hi, it is actually quite easy after a bit of practice and with the right tool. I use IrfanView (Freeware Photo Viewer with very good image manipulation, even batch resizing etc.), and you need to install the "Plug-Ins" as an extra install (they provide the perspective change). In the software, you go in the third main menu item in the top menu list, in German it is called "Bild" meaning image, and go to "Adobe 8BF Plugins", in which there is a menu item "Perspective transformations", that's it. There you have three sections on the right - on top is a slider for removing ton distortion or pillow distortion, which I rarely use (but if, it is really powerful). In the middle is a menu with "vertical lines", "rectangular" or "parallelogram". I almost always use "rectangular", where you choose 4 points (in the preview window left) which you want to be the corners of a rectangular surface. Then, the software changes the image when clicking on "apply". In this way I changed the PDP image you mentioned. The very low section with many sliders is for manual, there you can do the same as described above by hand, but this is often very difficult. For simple distortions, it does work though and is fun. PS: As I am in the "writing mood", I will tell you a trick which took me years to discover: In some pics of rectangular devices (like minicomputers), you have the phenomenon that only the upper edge is bent due to a ton (or more seldom, pillow) distortion, while the other (e.g., lower) edge is straight (or the other way round, or the same with right/left). With the above tools, you cannot (believe me) correct this, as the whole pic is affected by a "pillow/ton distortion correction", leading to the originally straight edge also being bent in the process... Remedy: (The following is for the case when the lower edge of a thing on the pic is bent, while the upper edge is correctly straight, may be adapted to other scenarios, of course) In Irfanview, press Control C (just like that, whole pic is copied invisibly), then go to "image --> vertical mirroring" and you have your pic on the screen 180 degrees upside down. Then go to "Edit -> Paste Special (add on side)" menu and choose "to Bottom". The correctly oriented pic version in the computer memory is then pasted directly below your inverted version, hence you have the correct image and the mirrored/inverted image directly adjacent to each other (works also for right/left, of course). Difficult to imagine, but what you have then is a double version of your pic with the two originally "correct" edges in the middle of the combined image, and the originally "bent/wrong" edges (in this example, the original lower edge of the item on the pic) are close to the upper and lower rims of your combined image. This combined image can now properly be corrected with the "pillow/ton correction" of the perspective distortion function from the IrfanView plugin. Finally, make a frame with the mouse around the properly oriented half (Shift + C allows to precisely enter geometry of the frame) of your double pic and remove the inverted half. Done. If the perspective correction is linear, there's a straight-out "Perspective" tool (one of the "Transform" tools), which has two modes of operation ("normal" and "corrective") each which provides a different way to do this; both are useful. For barrel roll and the like, GIMP is less useful: "Filters" | "Distorts" | "Curve Bend" does work, but the UI is really lousy, and I've found it usually takes me 15 minutes or so of repeated experimentation to get just what I want. - Jmabel ! talk 14:18, 8 September 2023 (UTC)[reply]

BTW, if you own an iPhone (like me, the model number being depressingly low, though ;-), in the "image" standard photo gallery there is a small button "edit" right top, behind which there are a variety of photo manipulation tools which are about the best and mightiest (yes) I have seen alltogether. Colour tone, black level, colour temperature, even perspective with tilt and pan and rotate, size change (framing), etc. with a really simple and efficient user interface. I wish the GIMP guys would implement a UI like that. The only drawback: If you store the reworked pic which was previously loaded from outside into the iPhone (via email or the like), a jpg of originally 1 Mbyte becomes frequently a jpg with 500 kByte (though the pic might even have become more complex) - from that I deduce that Apple stores with a relatively low jpg quality level, ~~maybe 75 to 85 or so, which is not so cool~~ - 10 min later: I just tried with the jpg-preview function of Irfanview, they store with about 92, which seems acceptable for everyday use. Вітаю! Розпочалася українська частина міжнародного Конкурсу наукових зображень 2023.

Ви брали участь в українських наукових фотоконкурсах раніше, тож, сподіваємося, вас зацікавить і цей. Подавати зображення можна у п’яти категоріях: «Люди в науці», «Мікроскопія», «Живі організми», «Загальна категорія», «Нефотографічні зображення». Також є спеціальна відзнака для зображень, які показують наслідки російського вторгнення в Україну. Конкурс триватиме до 20 грудня.

How to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category[edit]

When you want to ask for speedy-delete of an empty category, best practice is to mark it with {{SD|C2}} if it would be OK to re-create it in the future, given that appropriate content becomes available or {{SD|C1}} if it is an inappropriate category name that should not be reused. In particular, this is better practice than just blanking the category page, as you did at Category:3 video card colling fans. ("C1" and "C2" come from Commons:Criteria for speedy deletion).

I am feeling kind of watched (just kidding..: ;-) I know that. In fact, I tried to insert one of the above (dont remember which) and to mark them for deletion - I even went back for this to the section on your talk page where you told me of those some months ago. I then got a very weird error notice or "now do this and that" message where there was something like "insert the old wrong category name" and the new correct one inside the brackets, at least I thought this was the instruction. After doing so (at least I thought), the result was an even more strange error message, resulting in myself switching to error mode and aborting the whole thing. Given the fact that I once (long ago) seriously and successfully programmed in C and others etc., I would say there is something seriously wrong with the 'user experience' with these codes and not with me... You should be able just to copy-paste {{SD|C1}} or {{SD|C2}}. That's really all we need; should get the attention of the right admin within a day or so. Yes, you can add more, but I wouldn't worry so much about that. Blanking puts it in a different queue, in with a lot of vandalism, newbie error, etc. and on average makes it take longer to be dealt with.

Early PCs: I didn't really deal with PCs before the IBM PC. I was in the minicomputer world. I wrote the debugger for DEC's Pascal-36, then was involved in a sort of roll-your-own approach to single-fault-tolerant computers for the phone industry, etc. before getting into PCs. Even then, in much of the 1980s I was dealing with Apollos and Suns (though I did lead the tech team for one of the first PC-based 3-D modeling systems, MegaCADD). - Jmabel ! talk 19:39, 2 February 2024 (UTC)[reply]
