Riding with the colonel is Del Rio Councilman Claudio Sotello. Juneteenth celebrates the news of the Emancipation Proclamation reaching Texas June 19, 1865, freeing the slaves. On January 1, 1980, Juneteenth became an official Texas state holiday. |
